The Akaki River is one of the village’s most beautiful attractions. During the winter months the river bed is full of water and according to Karouzis*, in some areas the width of the river reaches 400 m. In fact, Karouzis adds that this width “is comparable to the width of the rivers Seine and Thames in the areas of Paris and London, which are 300 m wide” (p.120).
What is interesting is that the river carries volumes of pebbles from the Troodos mountain range, which make it particularly interesting.
